5 Tennis Hotels Perfect For Your Next Active Getaway
1. Ace the Game with Professional Instructors at Carlisle Bay Antigua
The exceptional Carlisle Bay Antigua resort is located on stunning Horseshoe Bay. Guests rave about its impeccable luxury and service while maintaining a haven of seclusion. The five-star luxury resort accommodates many different kinds of travelers, from families to girlfriend getaways. Whether the guests are into a more active form of wellness, like water sports or tennis, or seeking the relaxation and rejuvenation of a spa experience, everyone can find their place at Carlisle Bay Antigua.
Carlisle Bay is unique among Caribbean tennis hotels in providing extensive, high-quality facilities for guests, including five tennis courts and two pickleball courts. All equipment is provided, so you don’t have to worry about packing your tennis racquets. Also, the tennis clinics are complimentary and part of the weekly activities program. The on-site tennis pros offer the best instruction, tips, and advice to help guests of all tennis abilities get started or improve their game. For more information, please see the Tennis Brochure.
2. Smash The Competition Away at Rome Cavalieri, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel
The renowned Rome Cavalieri, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, is as much of an urban resort as it is one of the great tennis hotels of the world. At the hotel’s Cavalieri Grand Spa Club, guests can enjoy a leisurely game of tennis on one of the two floodlit Davis Cup red clay tennis courts. The facilities are fit for professionals, but amateur players like me can live out all their tennis dreams, too. I love playing on clay courts because they are easier on your joints and offer more physical and emotional satisfaction than hard courts. After a day visiting The Vatican, touring the Coliseum or indulging in gelato in St. Peter’s Square, I can’t think of anything better than returning to this luxe hotel and honing my skills in this fantastic venue.
Go ahead and splurge on one of the elegant Imperial rooms offering breathtaking views over the Eternal City and exclusive access to the Imperial Club with complimentary breakfast and refreshments. These rooms also provide complimentary access to the Cavalieri Grand Spa Club.
3. Win the Game, Set, and Match with the whole family at Grande Lakes Orlando
Located on a lush 500 acres, Grande Lakes Orlando is one of my family’s favorite hotels. It has everything! I have taken a kayak eco-tour on the hotel’s waterways, raced bikes on the myriad of bike paths, and sipped a frozen margarita in a poolside cabana. But I have not played tennis at this facility. I must change that! When you are in town visiting Walt Disney World Resort or Universal Orlando Resort or any of the Orlando attractions, Grande Lakes Orlando is the perfect home base.
Grande Lakes Orlando offers three lighted courts and a comprehensive tennis instruction program. Guests of all ages and abilities can play a friendly match or take a lesson. Check out the tennis cardio clinic, where visitors will learn the basics of the game while receiving a full cardio workout. This is my favorite kind of lesson. Afterward, guests can unwind at the award-winning spa with the Grande Sports Massage experience. The outstanding USTA National Campus is nearby if you are looking for more tennis fun. I love that Grande Lakes Orlando offers family rooms and suites. You will not go wrong if you choose a Club Level room. They are AMAZING.
4. ‘Serving’ Luxury in Morocco at La Mamounia
Morocco is a place I have never been but has been on my wish list to visit for a long time. I want to see the Spice Markets and experience the bustling ancient city of Marrakech. This is where Les Jardins lies. It is an oasis at the legendary La Mamounia. This resort oozes 5-star luxury, elegance and an otherworldly mystery. I fell in love with this palace when watching Netflix’s “Inventing Anna” and hope to visit soon!
Here, tennis connoisseurs will find their ‘match’ with two tennis courts, including one made of authentic Moroccan Clay. The on-site staff ensures that each court receives daily maintenance and watering, ensuring its pristine condition. To place tennis in such opulent settings would be incredible. Surrounded by the sounds of birds chirping and the scents of the gardens’ lime, orange, fig, and peach trees, a friendly game of tennis turns into a once-in-a-lifetime fairy tale experience.
5. Set Yourself Up For Fun at The Phoenician
My sisters and parents live in the Scottsdale area and I absolutely love visiting them. A peace comes over me when I look up to the mountains and across the miles of desert. The Phoenician, located in the heart of Scottsdale, Arizona, is a five-diamond luxury hotel that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The rooms are gigantic and include elegant guestrooms in the hotel, intimate casitas on the edge of Necklace Lake, or residential-style suites. All guests can soak up the rich atmosphere of the surrounding Sonoran Desert in a relaxed, upscale environment.
For active guests, the Phoenician athletic club offers nine courts: seven for tennis and two for pickleball. Guests can indulge in a match or master their skills in professional instructor-led lessons. The Tennis Shop in the athletic club features a variety of tennis gear and an area where players can relax and wind down with drinks and snacks on the patio overlooking the tennis courts. You don’t even have to pack your racquet! The property’s resort fee includes daily tennis court access and equipment use.
