The St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer is this Saturday in Atlanta (and many other cities throughout the country). Since September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, it is an easy way you can help to turn awareness into action by registering a team today for the St. Jude Walk/Run. Every dollar you raise will help children and their families get the best possible care without the worry about how to pay for it.
I was blessed to be able to visit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital earlier this year. It changed me. I was inspired and left feeling so fortunate for my healthy children but also dedicated to do what I can for those who aren’t as lucky.
St. Jude has been working tirelessly since 1962 to increase the overall survival rate for childhood cancer. In the 60’s, the survival rate was only about 20%. Today, it is over 80% and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has a goal to push that number to 90% in the next decade. Everyone participating in the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer will go toward that goal!
One of the most amazing things about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, housing, food or travel. They make it so all the family should worry about is helping their child live. Nothing else. Nearly 16,000 children will be diagnosed with cancer this year in the U.S and those with the toughest, often most aggressive or rare cases will get sent to St. Jude because they have the world’s best survival rates for some of the most aggressive childhood cancers. They save lives each and every day. They offer hope to parents who may have been told there was none. They treat the whole family and the whole person. And no one…NO ONE…gets a bill.
You can help St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to continue to save the lives of children worldwide by registering a team today for the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer Every dollar you raise will help! Register today at www.stjude.org/walkrun.
