Amazon Underground is the solution to the most frustrating problem moms will face this summer: boredom. If every second of the day isn’t planned with amazing, exciting, over-the-top fun things to do, my kids are bored. Everyday can’t be a Six Flags Over Georgia day. Sometimes I’m tired. Sometimes I need a break from being the kid’s entertainment director. Sometimes, I just want to spend an afternoon (or an hour) curled up with a good book instead of fighting rush hour traffic to make it home from somewhere fantastic. And this is where Amazon Underground comes in.
What is Amazon Undergound?
The Amazon Underground app for Android smartphones is an upgraded Amazon app with extra features and content such as instant streaming of Amazon Video and 100% free apps and games, even free in-app items. And yes, that means unlimited lives, levels, upgrades and everything. Amazon Underground gives you access to an incredible catalog of premium, family-friendly apps and games…all for FREE. No one can be bored ever again!
Using the Amazon Underground app gives you the option of downloading Amazon Video to your phone so your whole family can watch all your favorite movies and TV shows. It is basically an upgrade to the Amazon Shopping app you probably use now to shop for swim goggles and Disney merchandise and Star Wars light sabers (all in my recently viewed items). You can still use it to shop like you normally would, but this app has the Underground content that is free!
How do you get Amazon Underground?
Let me make it REALLY easy for you. Download the Amazon Underground app from your Android smartphone HERE. Reading this on a laptop? Go HERE and follow the on-screen instructions. The Amazon Underground app is generally compatible with all Android phones as well as Amazon Fire tablets.
Note: From experience, I can tell you that you cannot go to Google Play and download the app from there. It didn’t come up for me when I googled it either. I downloaded another Amazon shopping app. Just use the links above and save yourself some steps!
After you have installed the Amazon Underground app on your Android phone, follow the on-screen instructions so it pops up as an app on your phone. You will be prompted to enable “unknown sources” in your settings. It’s fine. I promise. Android devices just make you enable Unknown Sources to allow you to download apps and games from sources other than Google Play. It will not harm your device.
Once you have downloaded the Amazon Underground app, use the menu on the left to browse the selection of family-friendly, premium apps and games available in Amazon Underground. This is where you will find all the FREE stuff. I downloaded Where’s My Water. Usually it would be $1.99 with in-app purchases. Through Amazon Underground? FREE! And you will have access to unlimited free downloads via Amazon Underground!
Amazon Underground is available to customers in the United States, UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. When downloading the app to your Android device, note that it is compatible with phones that run Android version 4.0 or greater and is only supported on 5th Generation (2012 – newer) and newer Fire tablets.
Why should you get Amazon Underground?
It’s a free way to entertain yourself, the kids, the whole neighborhood if you want. No more…”Mom, it’s only $4.99!” whining about apps they want to download. No more issues about who got to download what last time. No more boredom! Just give them the phone or the tablet, point them to the Amazon Underground app and let them see what they can find. Of course, make sure you check what they are downloading to make sure it is appropriate. While everything seemed pretty family-friendly, there is a difference between what I will let my 9 year old use and what my 4 year old can use.
