March Madness is here! It’s the time for bracket busters, buzzer beaters, diaper dandies, and lots of dancing going on. This is my favorite time of the year. Fo’ real. Don’t let my minivan-driving, yoga-pants-wearing, 4-kid-having facade fool you. I’m a college hoops Fan. (Note the capital F.). Little known fact: I played Division I college basketball for the University of Illinois at Chicago. (Go Flames!) So I know a little something about college ball. And here’s the picture to prove it. Bam.
This year, I am so excited to welcome the NCAA Final Four to Atlanta for the 75th anniversary of the tournament. In addition to the big games, there will be a host of other family friendly activities (many of them free) for Atlantans to enjoy. I’m really looking forward to the concert series, The Big Dance, with some major musical talent including Flo Rida, Zac Brown Band, and Sting! (Sting, people, Sting!!). Bracket Town, billed as 300,000 square feet of family friendly fun, is also something I can’t wait to attend. It is supposed to be the ultimate fan festival and is geared to families of all ages. I may even get in on the Northwestern Mutual Road to the Final Four 5K.
The weekend of April 4-7, 2013 there will be events galore throughout the city so be sure to check out the schedule and get in the game! Even non-basketball fans can find something to do. And in case you were wondering, since my UIC Flames aren’t ‘dancing’ this year, I went with my hometown school (and my sister’s alma mater) Wisconsin to win it all. I’m a sucker for a dark horse.
