I feel like there’s some mommy guide I’m missing. Like I’m a day late and a dollar short when it comes to this mom/wife thing. People sometimes as me how I do it with four kids but I’m tired and don’t feel like I’m “doing it” well. I want to know how YOU do it. Yes YOU!
I see you at the pool frolicking in the water and not sitting on the edge hoping not to get yelled at by the life guards. I see you at the park letting your kids run down the big hill and not caring how dirty they get because “kids will be kids” and all I can see is the sticks in their hair and how long it will take to do baths that night. I see you at the grocery store with your organic everything and tons of fruit and vegetables because your child doesn’t eat anything with preservatives. I, myself, think the tomatoes on a frozen pizza count for a good serving and a half. I see you stop working immediately when your child needs you. Mine has been hanging on my arm screaming “up” for the whole time I’ve been writing this post. How do YOU do it? How do you have clean floors and clean kids and clean hair all at the same time?
You’re the one searching Pinterest for new Bento Box ideas for lunch. I’m still mad I can’t send peanut butter sandwiches. And it’s MY KID who’s allergic to peanut butter. You Instagram and Tweet the cutest things your kids say and do and they are all just adorable. I send out my best stuff but then feel like a fraud because I yelled at the kids for messing up the carpets after their slip-n-slide fun. Sigh. You ask friends for new dinner ideas to surprise your husband. My husband thinks it’s a splurge when I put in 2 different frozen pizzas. “It’s a buffet!” You make forts and host sleepovers and take your kids to Six Flags…on a school night! You don’t burn the bread that was supposed to go with the pasta. You go peach picking and then come home and make a rustic peach tart, on a whim. You garden. You make a roast on a Wednesday. You buy the cutest, most thoughtful teacher appreciation gifts. How do YOU do it?
I love my kids and love my life and acknowledge what a blessing it is to be a stay at home mom and yada, yada, yada…BUT HOW DO YOU ALL DO THIS SO WELL? (Sorry for yelling. Both to you and my kids.) And that is not a rhetorical question, y’all. I really want to know!

You know, there is some mom out there wondering the same thing about you…. about me!! Can you believe that? But, it’s true.

I’m constantly asking the same thing…How do you do it? What I’ve came up with….I think we all do what works for us. I gave up some of the striving too. I’d love to be as calm as certain mothers I know but seriously, I can’t do it. I can only be me. God sent me to be the mother of my boys and them to be my children. I just have to remind myself when I see lovely pictures of rustic tarts. 🙂
