It’s almost here…the end to 2020! I hope you will be yelling Happy New Year 2021 and celebrating with me. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a year to be over as much as I wanted this one to be done. And we need to celebrate it big.
If you have kids hanging with you, (of course you do) you may be wondering what you can do on New Year’s Eve. You can have fun with the whole family at home or at a socially-distanced event as you scream Happy New Year 2021 and put 2020 in your hindsight. Check out 5 options you can do at home or out and about around Atlanta.
5 Places To Yell Happy New Year 2021
1. Great Wolf Lodge Georgia
My family ADORES Great Wolf Lodge Georgia (150 Tom Hall Pkwy, LaGrange, GA 30240). We have been there over a holiday before and they make it extra special. This year, Great Wolf is ringing in 2021 with fun-filled, physically distanced New Year’s Eve options for guests. Their annual Snowland experience has transformed the resort into a winter wonderland with activities and entertainment sure to make spirits bright – and safe.

Guests are able to yell Happy New Year 2021 in the comfort of their suite with a virtual countdown via a resort-wide broadcast of a very special Great Wolf Lodge countdown celebration. Each guest suite will include complimentary 2021-branded hats, beads, crowns and other party favors to help families get into the New Year spirit. Families can also pick up to-go craft kits to complete in the comfort of their suite. And of course the water park, mini golf, ropes course, climbing wall and arcade are all available too! You will NOT get bored.
2. At Home Glow Party
We all know quality family time together has been so important this year. So why not end 2020 the same way you spent the majority of it: with your kids in your living room, wearing your comfy pants. Kids of all ages will appreciate some fun-filled family activities for those staying closer to home this New Year’s Eve. Check out some activities designed to come together to create the ultimate Glow-In-the-Dark NYE Party for families. Here are some family-friendly activities to brighten up your New Year’s festivities, including:
- Create Your Own Party Hat
- Glow-in-the-Dark Cotton Candy
- Glowin’ Tic Tac Toe
- Glow-in-the-Dark NYE Balloon Drop
3. Virtual Happy New Year 2021 Dance Party
Make sure to stretch first before you show your kids all your moves from the 90’s. (My Kid-n-Play KILLS btw.) Have everyone help make a special NYE playlist to get the dancing started. Have a fashion show and see what fabulousness your kids can come up with or maybe just throw on your PJ’s and keep it cozy. The at-home dance party is perfect for the whole family. Go ahead and invite friends and relatives to jam with you via zoom! You can combine it with the glow party too. Just tape glow sticks to your arms, legs, head and body, turn out the lights and dance like it’s 1999!
4. Stone Mountain Christmas
If you are feeling up to it, the early countdown at Stone Mountain Park is a festive, fun place to ring in a happy New Year 2021. On December 31, Stone Mountain Christmas will operate as usual during the day (2p to 9p) and will conclude with a fireworks finale, the Snow Angel “snowfall”, and a countdown to 2021 (albeit 3 hours early). New Year’s Eve activities will continue with costumed characters, music and dancing. [Save up to 42% by buying tickets on Groupon!]
5. The Battery ATL
If you are one of those people who really wants to be with other people on New Year’s Eve, you can head over to The Battery. It is one of the hippest places you can bring your kids to in Atlanta. Skip the indoor events and bundle up to enjoy the free activities outdoor. Starting at 9pm, the Plaza will feature live music and a fireworks display over Truist Park at midnight. Parking is free from 8pm on 12/31 to 1pm on 1/1.
