Disney wants you to let your inner geek out! During the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration earlier this month I learned about two new techy items Disney is debuting this year. I loved getting the inside scoop and wanted to share it with you!
Story by Disney
The first, Story by Disney, speaks to the producer in us all. Designed specifically with moms in mind, the FREE Story app (for iPhone/iPod only right now) takes the work out of finding ways to showcase your photos. Don’t want to hunt for the right photos from the right days and cut and paste them into the right layout with the right color all while editing the photos to their ultimate crispness? Me either…at least not for everyday moments. Story uses a complex algorithm based on location and date of the photos in your camera roll to categorize them into My Moments. You can then go in and swap pictures, add text, and change things up as you see fit (or not) and then in two clicks email them to friends and family or share on Facebook.
I like this app to create a book for everyday moments. I put one together for the birthday dinner we had for my son’s 1st birthday. It was sweet and a great way to capture “regular” moments and turn ordinary days into extraordinary memories. Future versions will include an Android app as well as the ability to print books. (Yes!) Story by Disney puts you in the seat as a storyteller. Check out my Story:
Disney Infinity
The second thing I learned about is the new gaming system, Disney Infinity. Now I fought the game-system-in-the-house thing for awhile but gave up last Christmas. The kids love the WII they received! And now Disney has a whole new take on this gaming thing. Their new video game initiative stars the beloved characters from Walt Disney and Pixar Studios’ most popular franchises. Players will get to place real-world toys from their favorite Disney characters onto the Infinity device base and bring them all into the virtual worlds including Monsters University, the Incredibles, Cars and Pirates of the Caribbean. My favorite aspect is the Toy Box “mash up” where all the different characters can play together. This system seems like it’s going to totally re-write the gaming playbook. It is an entirely new way to interacting with a game, instead of just playing with it. Disney Infinity debuts August 2013. I look forward to checking it out. I might even let my kids play.
Disclosure: I learned about these products at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. I paid a fee to attend the event and was given accommodations, event tickets, and Disney products. I was not asked to nor compensated for writing about these products.
