I had the opportunity to visit the newest Family Dollar in Atlanta recently. Honestly, I went to the event because some of my blogger friends were going and they said it would be a good time. And they were right! Not only did I have fun, I learned about a store I had never been in!
I MISTAKENLY thought that Family Dollar was an “everything’s $1” store. Wrong! Things seemed to be inexpensive but not necessarily cheap. Many items were priced at $1, $5, and $10 which just helps make things easier. You can buy A LOT for a small amount of money. And many of the items were the same name brand ones you would find at Target or Wal-Mart.
The highlight of the evening was learning about the reemergence of the Kenya doll. Family Dollar brought this doll back from obscurity and is now selling it to a new generation of little girls. I liked that the doll came in different hues and with different hairstyles so girls can find one they can identify with. I also liked that there were some that were more appropriate for older girls and others were better suited for the preschool set. Not every doll is right for every girl. Kudos to Family Dollar for understanding this idea! The motto, “Growing up proud, Just like me” is so welcome too! Check out some of my photos:
Disclosure: I received compensation for attending this event but of course everything I write is 100% my opinion.
