Someday, a long time from now, all my kids will be grown and living lives of their own. There will be no more parent-teacher conferences, ballet practices, or soccer Saturdays. No more diapers, strollers, or “Mom where’s my shoes”. It will just be my husband and I rocking in our rocking chairs…hopefully on a beach somewhere! I know that I will miss these little kid days but I also know I plan to enjoy the empty nest ones too.
Since we travel now lots as a family, I dream about the time when we will have the time and money to travel the world as a couple. Getting on a plane without carseats, strollers, and snacks for the kids sounds pretty awesome right now. I don’t have to retire as a billionaire but I just want to have the money to live comfortably and not have my husband or I be forced to work, though I think we’ll always want to dabble in something. Travel is my number one retirement goal. What’s yours?
Have you thought about retirement even though it seems so far off? For some inspiration, check out Money Magazine’s “25 Best Places to Retire” list. Marietta, Georgia is my city’s next door neighbor and I never thought about it but it does seem like a good place to retire. I think my number one pick is Austin, TX though. I’ve heard great things about that city. Which top 25 city would be your pick?
I know that I need to get my insurance needs in order, live within my means, and continue planning for a bright grown folks future! Disclosure: Information in this post was presented by Genworth Financial. I was compensated for writing it but the opinions and ideas are strictly my own.
