I love date night. I try to plan one at least once a month, or sometimes more if I can squeeze it into the budget. (A babysitter for 4 kids adds up!) Date night usually means dinner and a movie for us or maybe a show at the Fox Theatre, but sometimes it’s fun to switch things up. So when I heard about the private pizza-making class at the Buckhead Pizza Company locations I decided to put together a date night with some friends in my moms group (North Cobb Mocha Moms) and give it a try.
On a cold Saturday night, we got together with 8 other couples at the Buckhead Pizza Company’s Cobb Galleria location (near Vinings). We were seated in a private room that was already set up for us and were quickly served drinks. The guys loved that the Hawks game was playing on two flat screens in our room!
Three hors d’oeurves, including a delicious hummus, were put out buffet style as the couples came in. We were also given a delicious Moscato wine to go with the appetizers. Yum! After chatting with each other for a bit, we went in two groups to meet with the funny and super energetic chef at a demonstration table to make our pizza pies.
We learned about how to make a dough, and then rolled it out, added our sauce cheese and any ingredients we wanted. Mine included tomatoes, pineapple, spinach, a little basil and lots of cheese. As our pizzas cooked, we were served a glass of a dry red wine from Spain which went really well with the pizza and was something I wouldn’t have chosen myself. I like the idea of trying something new and getting out of my Riesling rut.
My pizza creation was DELICIOUS! And getting the personal instruction actually gives me the confidence that I could do this at home. After our pizzas were enjoyed, we were treated to homemade beignets which were the perfect not-too-sweet end to a fabulous night. We left full, happy, and with a greater degree of pizza and wine knowledge. It was a date night to remember!
Buckhead Pizza Company offers their pizza making class at all three locations (Buckhead, Cumming, and Cobb Galleria/Vinings) during regular business hours. It was a fun date night but would also be a great girls night out or even a kids birthday party (without the wine). The cost is between $25 and $39 depending if you have wine or dessert added in. I highly recommend it!
Disclosure: My group was given a discounted rate so I could do this review, but all opinions are always my own.
