I visited Fogo de Chão this month and have come up with some Brazilian steakhouse tips for everyone. Even if you don’t like meat! I went to Fogo de Chao Atlanta to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Truth be told, except for chicken and a nice juicy turkey leg, I don’t really eat much meat. I haven’t had beef or pork since college (which was a LONG time ago). However, my husband would gladly give up dessert for another round of beef.
When Fogo de Chao Atlanta reached out to me and told me about their newest seasonal offerings for summer I wanted to give it a try. They said they offered refreshing salads such as Watermelon Feta and Heirloom Tomato & Mozzarella, a nutrient-dense Ancient Grain Salad and so many tasty cocktails. One of my Brazilian steakhouse tips I learned right away is that this restaurant is not JUST about meat!
“During the summer months in Brazil, friends and family spend a lot of time surrounding a fogo de chão, or campfire,” said Larry Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Fogo de Chão. “Our summer menu was carefully crafted to celebrate this tradition by offering guests new options to enjoy alongside premium cuts of meat that are fire-roasted by our expert gaucho chefs.”
6 Summer Menu Items and Brazilian Steakhouse Tips
1. Jumbo Cocktail Shrimp
Add some seafood! A malagueta cocktail sauce spices up this unique jumbo shrimp cocktail small plate. My husband thought it was the perfect way to enhance the full churrasco experience. And these shrimp were HUGE!
2. Chickpea Salad
This protein-rich salad features chickpeas mixed with summer basil, fresh parsley, red onion, and red bell pepper. It is then dressed with a house-made lemon Dijon vinaigrette.
3. Watermelon Feta Salad
Refreshing watermelon is tossed with feta, summer basil, fresh mint and cracked black pepper making this the perfect summertime salad.
4. Guava Do Sul alcoholic drink
Let’s get exotic! Mix Prosecco, Vodka, and guava puree and you get this light and refreshing drink. Be careful though. It packs a punch!
4. Ancient Grains Salad
Healthy and delicious? Yes! Put quinoa, wild rice, Chia seeds, Granny Smith apples and more together and it turns into a light, refreshing, vitamin-packed side dish.
5. Brazilian Gentleman alcoholic drink
Just enough sweetness is in this tasty alcoholic drink. Made with passion fruit puree, Knob Creek Rye Bourbon, honey, lemon juice, Gum Syrup, Bitters, and Ramos Pinto Tawny 10 Port, it tasted a little like butterscotch. It went down VERY smooth!
6. Heirloom Tomato & Mozzarella
Ripe red and yellow heirloom tomatoes are layered with fresh Buffalo mozzarella and topped with extra virgin olive oil, cracked black pepper and basil.

About Fogo de Chão
Fogo de Chão (fogo-dee-shown) is a leading Brazilian steakhouse, or churrascaria. It specializes in the centuries-old Southern Brazilian cooking technique of churrasco. This is the art of roasting high-quality cuts of meats over open flame, all of which are carved tableside by Brazilian-trained gaucho chefs. Founded in Southern Brazil in 1979, there are currently 52 locations throughout Brazil, the United States, Mexico, and the Middle East.
Fogo’s distinctive and authentic Brazilian dining experience begins with the seasonal Market Table and Feijoada Bar. This includes seasonal salads, soup, fresh vegetables, imported charcuterie and more. Gaucho chefs fire-roast a variety of simply seasoned meats at this restaurant chain. They also have seafood, desserts, signature cocktails and an award-winning wine list. In addition to the full churrasco experience, Fogo offers its guests multiple ways to enjoy the experience at varying price points. There is a weekday lunch starting at $15, weekend Brazilian Brunch and a newly enhanced Bar Fogo menu that features smaller, sharable plates, Brazilian-inspired cocktails and happy hour.
