So many of us have a goal to be healthy this year. Now that swimsuit season is now looming, those forgotten New Year’s resolutions might need to be dusted off. Whether it is finding time for a solid, healthy breakfast, eating more fruits and vegetables, or getting ourselves to the gym, there’s a lot we can do right now. And of course, it’s not all about focusing on how we look. We want to be healthy but we also want to be happy. I’ve found three things that can help me be both healthy and happy in 2017.
Three Ways to Be Healthy in 2017
1. Eat a good breakfast.
I was sent the CedarLane Frittatas in two flavors, Spinach & Roasted Tomato (160 calories) and Roasted Chile & Cheese (200 calories). These egg white Frittatas are packed with protein, fiber and calcium. The egg-white is filling enough for a full meal that will keep you energized throughout the day. For those who don’t have a lot of time in the morning for a good breakfast, try these CedarLane Frittatas. They can be found in the frozen section of most grocery stores.
2. Eat more fruit and vegetables.
Opal apples are one unique brand of apples I was sent. These sweet fruits have a beautiful appearance, distinctively crunchy texture, and a floral aroma. But one of the most incredible features of this apple is that it does not brown after cutting. Slice an Opal apple and it will remain crisp and fresh, even after hours in a lunch box. These naturally non-browning apples are great for kids, and awesome for moms too! And they make it easier for me to get healthy food in my mouth!
3. Try a new class.
While I love playing tennis and it is great cardio, sometimes our bodies need to be jolted. To be healthy this year and try something new, I went to a LifeBarre class at Life Time Athletic – Atlanta. I am so used to the high-cardio classes that I was wary of the Barre class, thinking I’d be bored. No chance of that. LifeBarre introduces some ballet moves with a big focus on balance and core strength. And boy was I sore the next day. I felt soreness in places that I didn’t know muscles existed. But it was a good kind of sore, one my body needs. I’m going to shake it up more often.
