As any curly girl knows, daily washing is a no-no. But product build-up, sweat, and dandruff can leave your scalp itchy and flaky and can make your hair dry, limp, and lifeless. But no more! The people at Head & Shoulders have realized that curly girls may need dandruff control and scalp soothing too.
With this in mind they created the Moisture Care Collection with Head & Shoulders’ products that start at the source, your scalp, to help you achieve beautiful hair and give you the confidence to live head first. The Moisture Care Collection from Head & Shoulders offer superior scalp care without sacrificing the beauty benefits of leading cosmetic shampoos. And they are designed for people with curly hair! Yes!
The Moisture Care Collection products are activated on contact with water. The formula is designed to target the scalp and penetrate into the surface skin. From there, the formula releases ZPT into the scalp to work as a barrier against scalp irritants, which can cause dandruff, and help improve natural moisture over time
Here’s a little overview of the Moisture Care Collection:
- Provides moisture for scalp and hair immediately and over time, helping to eliminate dandruff and leaving you 100% flake-free
- Designed for textured hair (three cheers from curly girls everywhere!)
- Collection includes a shampoo, 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner, co-wash and scalp soother
- Main ingredients include vitamin E rich almond oil, coconut essence and dandruff-fighting ingredient zinc pyrithione (ZPT)
My favorite products in the Moisture Care Collection are the Co-Wash and the Scalp Soother. I used on myself and my 7 year old daughter as well as my two year old son (who tends to have a very dry scalp). I like the smell and that my hair felt clean afterward but not stripped. I also didn’t see the product build up I usually see in my daughter’s hair between washes.
The Co-Wash is short for conditioner washes which are all the rage these days. It gently cleanses hair and moisturizes it. I also used a moisture-rich deep conditioner after the co-wash as my curls are super dry during the winter. Others may or may not need the extra step. Head & Shoulders advice to use the Co-Wash at least twice a week (or as directed by a doctor).
The Scalp Soother is great for those days in between shampoos when my scalp is itchy. I play tennis and take zumba classes so the sweat can build up on my scalp. However, my hair would NOT look good if I washed it, even with Co-Wash, daily. The scalp soother is a great way to calm the irritation immediately, providing a cooling feeling. It works on the kids too because I don’t always have the time (or inclination really) to wash hair several times a week. It also provides some moisture balance for the scalp, which filters down to the hair too.
For anyone with curly or “textured” hair and who experiences itchy, dry, or flaky scalp, check out the Moisture Care Collection from Head & Shoulders. I love that a big brand like this is focused on the needs of brown-skinned, curly-haired girls like me!
