Rain, rain go away, come again another day! Rainy, cloudy, soggy, damp…those are all good adjectives for Spring. And Spring showers can be nice but they can also mean a lot of time spent indoors. If you’re a crafty mama than you will get excited to pull out the pom poms and Popsicle sticks and glitter and have some fun. If you are like me who doesn’t even own a glue gun (insert *gasp*) in her home, than a good movie is a fantastic idea to while away rainy days.
[Very corny joke alert: If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring? Answer: Pilgrims.]
As a Netflix Streamteam member, I love being able to cull through their movies and find some good ones for moms like me. (Want to see what other Netflix movies I recommend? Check out here and here to see past posts.)
Here are five family-friendly movies streaming now on Netflix:
1. Ever feel a little different, like an outsider? Watch Stellaluna and learn how she finds her place in a family that looks nothing like her. This 2004 movie can help anyone find a way to fit in, even if they are a fruit bat with birds for a family! This G-rated movie is only 41 minutes which makes it perfect for even the littlest ones.
2. For anyone who feels a little slow, or a little different, than you will definitely relate to Turbo. A snail who wants to race at the Indianapolis 500? That’s too big of a dream, right? Not for Turbo, who teaches us anything (yes even a turbo-powered snail) is possible.
3. For girls (or boys) who want some guidance in how to break out of their routine, or their rut, watch the one hour Angelina Ballerina: Pop Star Girls movie to see how ballet-crazed Angelina puts away her tutus for a bit and tries her hand at hip-hop. Along with her friends, she can become anything…even a pop star!
4. Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genuis is for every kid (or parent) who thought I’m too small or too young or too {fill in the blank} to do something big. Jimmy Neutron had to step up when all the adults were kidnapped by aliens. And he did! Though this movie came out back in 2001, it is still making new fans everyday with it’s timeless message and fun humor.
5. Disney’s Mulan is fun and funny and teaches a great lesson about honor and the power of family. It also shows us that girls can be just as capable of saving a kingdom as boys, if they are given a chance.
