Even my two year old got in on the fun this year! He got to go sledding too!
Hurry! Snow Mountain at Stone Mountain Park is almost done for the season. There are only 3 more weekends so take advantage of some decent weather (finally) and take the whole family out for some sledding, snowman building, hot chocolate drinking, and s’mores making! My 7 year old is a daredevil and loved going down the tube rides by herself. Even my 6 and 4 year olds did too this year!
I have been to Snow Mountain with my kids for each of the last four years as part of a media day event (with complimentary tickets). It is my kids favorite thing to do at Stone Mountain Park, and that says a lot since there are so many things they love there. This marked the first year that all my kids met the 36in height requirement and that I wasn’t pregnant so we all could go tubing. Yay! It was my first time that I actually went down the slope. It brought back great memories of cold, winter afternoons spent sledding down hills in my hometown of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. I love that even though we are in Georgia, I can give my kids some good sledding memories of their own!
Riding to the top of the tubing run on a conveyor belt sure beats climbing it ourselves!
SNOW MOUNTAIN DISCOUNTS
Snow Mountain might be a splurge for some families but look for the discounts or value-added packages. Currently they have a Sunday Special deal for $6 off every ticket on Sundays (making the price $22/person). Also remember children aged 2 and under do not need a ticket. Are you a Gas South customer? If so, you can save 25% off Snow Mountain tickets! For more value for your buck, I like the combo meal package. Food can be expensive there and it’s helpful not to have to think about it. For $47/person it includes Snow Mountain, a meal, unlimited Coca-Cola products, and a 3 attraction pass to check out some other fun things at Stone Mountain. Be sure to check out your nearest Kroger to see if they have the $4 off coupon if you are planning on buying tickets at the gate too.
Though Snow Mountain and Stone Mountain Park might be considered a splurge, it’s worth it in my opinion because it truly is a memory-making type of day. Pack a lunch, and a change of clothes, and spend some time exploring the other things that make Stone Mountain Park great. Coming from out of town? Check out the Evergreen Marriott for great deals and a really nice resort-feel location right inside Stone Mountain Park grounds. But hurry because winter is almost gone! Snow Mountain will melt away after February 22, 2015!
