We are T minus 8 days until summer break. When I was in school, summer didn’t start until…well…summer. School got out in mid to late June and went back around Labor Day. And we liked it like that. We also walked 3 miles to school (uphill both ways) everyday too. But I digress. Here in Georgia, school lets out before Memorial Day and moms like me are left to our own devices. I started early on my summer camp game and have a few weeks lined up but I have been looking for something special for my daughter. When I saw the information from Concourse Athletic Club, I knew I had found what I was looking for.
I want to encourage my 7 year old daughter to like sports. She’s tall and comes from athletic parents and I want her to own her strengthen and athleticism. Tennis seems like a good sport for her and the tennis camp at Concourse Athletic Club looks like a great place to start.
The Concourse Athletic Club tennis camp will provide a fun comprehensive atmosphere for kids age 5 to 12+ of all levels and abilities. The camp will improve their game, introduce them to new friends and teach them to enjoy the game of tennis. All students will be divided into groups according to ability and age during an evaluation given at the beginning of camp. There is no experience necessary (which is good because my sweet girl has none). Plus, in addition to tennis, the kids will also have one hour of swimming everyday!
The tennis staff for this camp have very impressive backgrounds. They are USPTA and PTR tennis professionals and collegiate scholarship players. The director, Isaac Yarrell, an USPTA certified tennis
professional, specializes in junior character development, motivation, and helping players reach their potential. He’s worked with some of the top youth tennis players in the South! The instructors will
teach through playing experience, on court demonstration, live ball drills, and fun.
The tennis camp runs Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are 9 weeks of camp offered this summer starting the week of June 2. Cost: $300/members $325/non-members. For more information contact the Tennis Desk or Isaac Yarell at 770.698.2080 or iyarrell@wellbridge.com.
